In Memoriam

Peter Messer

28 May 1918 - 12 August 2006

Dearly loved and forever missed.
R.I.P

My father lived 88 years. He will never be forgotten and can never be replaced.
Living a long and good life is a talent that requires strength and the fortune of good health, family and relationships.
There are so many who played a part in my father's long life.
He was a true English gentleman, much liked by all who met him and dearly loved by his family. My father was so proud of his family, of his wife (my mother) and of his children, his six grandchildren were his delight.
Peter, means the rock. My father was a strong and determined man, who endured a war, 57 years of marriage, one daughter, three crazy sons, too many cigarettes and then, in later years, ill health, with a perseverance and a wife so resolute, that neither would let go until it was time.
Mother fought hard, long and strong and held him to the end.
Each wedding anniversary, on September 8th, my mother would give my father a little model lamb. It became their tradition. He was the leader of our flock.
I will forever miss his advice and wisdom, his silly jokes and some sayings that will hopefully remain in our family for generations to come.
My father was a good looking man (as he would often tell us!), meticulous, determined and could be shy and reserved. He loved a good joke, his food, clothes, travel, a crossword puzzle, his daily newspaper, politics, to walk, to swim, play golf, drive his car too fast, his personal space, television, order and routine, and always his family.
