JOHNNY CASH PHOTOGRAPHS

I met Johnny Cash when I first arrived in Nashville in 1977.
I wanted to meet Cash because he represented country music. He was the ambassador of American music and the "Baron" of Nashville.

We were introduced by his musical director (Australian born) Bill Walker during a break in a TV show taping at the Opry House.
The tall man politely stretched down his long arm and extended his large hand towards me from the edge of the Opry stage,
and said, “Hello I'm Johnny Cash...”

John was larger than life and simply one of the most down to earth, friendliest, wildest men I have ever met.
John R Cash was an American original. His legend and music will live on to be "unearthed" and rediscovered by future generations.

BOOKS + AUDIO

I STILL MISS SOMEONE
FRIENDS AND FAMILY REMEMBER JOHNNY CASH

published by Cumberland House; (spring) 2005
back cover /
personal chapter, plus several interior pictures.
This is an excellent book compiled by Hugh Waddell, who was Johnny's personal assistant during the mid eighties.
Hugh, a Cash family friend, spent eight years with Johnny Cash as publicist, personal aide and part-time drummer.
It was Hugh, who
in 1987, recommended me to Cash, an introduction that led me down a long road with many wonderful memories and hundreds of photographs.

MERCHANDISE
[authorised by Cash Estate]

A model train features my photographs.

I was a bit of a model train enthusiast and collector, when I was a boy. I remember riding on steam trains. I traveled to school daily by train. It was a big treat to go to london by train,
which my father did daily. Long before I heard Johnny Cash music, or met the man, I was into trains. Those old English inter-city steam trains would have a wonderful dining car, called a Pullman.

Johnny Cash Memorial Tribute

Broadcast November 10th 2003
I contributed several of photographs (one of which was part of the stage set)

plus my video of Johnny and June recording "Far Side Banks Of Jordan" was shown.
(see photo below)

Rosanne Cash gave a powerful and evocative performance, including she and her father's recording of "September When It Comes"
with a video family photo montage that is absolutely fantastic.

As always Rosanne set the tone with eloquence and grace, and John Carter busily accepted awards on his father's behalf.
