ALICE COOPER
Backstage with Alice at the Bridgestone Arena. Some of my pictures are in his School's Out Box Set, 2013

School's Out, welcome to our Nightmare!
So good to spend a few minutes backstage with Alice, it has been many years since we met.
We were discussing age and health and Keith (Richard). Alice is three years older than me, but I don't wear heavy make-up,
get guillotined nightly and neither of us has snorted our father's ashes.

As to health, I am rarely ill, maybe a cold once a year. Good food and exercise and hard work.

USTAD LAKHA KHAN
Ustad Lakha Khan, from the Rajasthan province in the northwest of India near Pakistan is a master musician and instrument builder of the Sindhi Sarangi, a 37-string bowed instrument whose name means "one hundred colours", which refers to the instrument's wide tonal range.
Khan is a virtuoso performer whose vocal and instrumental abilities hearken to a bygone era wherein vocalists performed in primarily unamplified settings and so developed the ability to sing and project at an astonishing level. Accompanied by his son, Dane, on dholak, a two-headed Indian drum, they played a wonderful two sets at at Emma Bistro, Nashville.

They sang that on stage after Sheryl sang, "Are You Strong Enough To Be My Man".

Backstage at a Willie Nelson Show

A Backstage Pass (To A Willie Nelson Show)
Hello I'm Johnny Cash
One night I had a backstage pass to the Willie Nelson Show
There were wackoes and weirdoes and dingbats and dodoes
And athletes and movie stars and David Allan Coe
There was leather and lace and every minority race
With a backstage pass to the Willie Nelson Show
Kristofferson got an offer for a movie promoters closed another deal or two
Waylon got a call from his son Shooter and he went home the minute he was through.
I moved with the mob at intermission
To the green room where you see who you can see
There were has-been's and would-be's and never-were's
Paupers punks and millionaires and me.

Hells Angels blocked the traffic to the building
In order for the beer truck to come through
And waitin' in the wings to sing with Willie were hopeful stars of flickering magnitude
There was a singer Willie knew back in the fifties
Who once paid him fifty dollars for a song
There were women who once did and some who still would
I heard one ask did Connie come along?
I wish you could've been there, well maybe you were.

SHAWN COLVIN + STEVE EARLE shared "Stories and Songs" at Nashville's Schermerhorn.
Two blocks from the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, is where Steve and I shot the classic GUITAR TOWN cover in 1986.

Steve's guest, Emmylou Harris sang the haunting, GOOD-BYE, from his Slow Train Coming album.
After the show I told Steve that I listened to this emotional song on my Walkman at Johnny and June's home in Jamaica,
but Johnny never discussed music with me except once to pass a message on to Steve that his version of, Hardin Wouldn't Run,
was the best.
